Where can I find baby-sitting jobs?

You can find childminding vacancies at babysitting-bfc.fr and on www.jobaviz.fr (for students only).

I'd like to work with children and someone told me about the Bafa. What is the Bafa?

Le Bafa is a diploma that allows you to be occasional entertainer working with children or teenagers in a leisure centre, holiday centre, after-school care centre, etc.

Besançon regularly recruits extra-curricular activity leaders and can finance the Bafa qualification: emploi.grandbesancon.fr.

Are there any seasonal agricultural jobs in Burgundy-Franche-Comté? Are seasonal agricultural workers entitled to housing benefit?

The seasonal agricultural jobs without qualifications are few in number in Burgundy-Franche-Comté. The main ones are corn castration in Burgundy (late June to early August), the harvest in Burgundy and the Jura (late August to early October), the cutting and shipping the trees especially in the Morvan (in November and December).

The Crous student employment service helps students draw up CVs and letters, search for companies and prepare for interviews.

Are there forums for finding a job?

Yes, the Crous and Youth Info organise an annual jobs forum, late March or early April of each year.

The dates are published on jobs-bfc.fr a few weeks before.

I've got a job alongside my studies. Will I have to pay tax?

No. The young people under the age of 26 pay no tax on salaries earned during their studies provided you earn no more than 3 months' minimum wage in any one year.

I work more than 10 hours a week. Can I get special arrangements for my studies?

Yes. Students who work at least 10 hours a weekcan benefit from special study plan which allows arrangements to be made in the course of studies; these arrangements may relate, among other things, to timetabling, attendance or possible exemptions.

Get in touch with a disability referent of your school. For university, you will find the list at www.umlp.fr

Can a foreign student work while studying in France?

Yes, an international student can work 964 hours a year (which represents 60% of the legal working time). No work permit is required. 

Please note: Algerian students can only work 50% of the legal working time (around 800 hours).
They must apply for a temporary work permit (APT).
This difference is explained by the fact that their status is defined by the Franco-Algerian Agreement of 27 December 1968.

The Bafa, a plus for finding a job!

La Bafa allows becoming a youth worker from the age of 16 in leisure centres during the school year or in holiday centres during the holidays. Find all the information on www.jeunes-bfc.fr.

Please note: the Besançon town council hires after-school care staff throughout the school year.
It can finance the Bafa to presenters who so wish: emploi.grandbesancon.fr (type "périscolaire" in the keyword field).
