Where can I find baby-sitting jobs?

You'll find childcare offers at babysitting-bfc.fr and on www.jobaviz.fr (for students only).

I'd like to work with children and someone told me about the Bafa. What is the Bafa?

Visit Bafa is a diploma that allows you to be occasional entertainer working with children or teenagers in a leisure center, vacation center, after-school care center, etc.

Besançon regularly recruits extracurricular activity leaders and can finance the Bafa diploma: emploi.grandbesancon.fr.

Are there any seasonal agricultural jobs in Burgundy-Franche-Comté? Are seasonal agricultural workers entitled to housing assistance?

Visit seasonal agricultural jobs without qualifications are few in number in Burgundy-Franche-Comté. The main ones are corn castration in Burgundy (late June to early August), the harvest in Burgundy and the Jura (late August to early October). fir cutting and shipping especially in the Morvan (in November and December).

Are there any job forums?

Yes, the Crous and Youth Info organize an annual jobs forum, late March or early April of each year.

Dates are published on jobs-bfc.fr a few weeks before.

I have a job on the side, will I have to pay taxes?

No. The young people under 26 pay no tax on wages earned during their studies provided you earn no more than 3 months of Smic per year.

I work more than 10 hours a week. Do I qualify for any accommodations for my studies?

Yes. Working students at least 10 hours a weekcan benefit from special study plan which allows for accommodations to be made in the course of studies; these accommodations may concern, among other things, timetabling, attendance or possible exemptions.

Where can I get support at my school?

Get in touch with a handicap referent of your school. For universities, you'll find the list at www.umlp.fr

Can a foreign student work while studying in France?

Yes, an international student can work 964 hours a year (which represents 60% of the legal working time). No work permit is required. 

Please note: Algerian students can only work 50% of the legal working time (around 800h).
They must apply for a temporary work permit (APT).
This difference is explained by the fact that their status is defined by the Franco-Algerian Agreement of December 27, 1968.

The Bafa, a plus for finding a job!

Visit Bafa allows becoming an animator from age 16 in leisure centers during the school year, or in vacation centers during the vacations. Find out more on www.jeunes-bfc.fr.

Please note: the Ville de Besançon hires after-school care staff throughout the school year.
It can finance the Bafa for hosts who so wish: emploi.grandbesancon.fr (type periscolaire in the keyword field).
